Punctuality and Attendance

Punctuality

Punctuality is an important part of self-discipline and it is essential for good time management.

Always make sure that you are in your school ready for assembly no later than 6.55am each morning.

If you arrive later than this you will be marked late, if the lesson has already started you will be marked late and a note explaining your absence from class will be required.

Attendance

The proper place for you to be on a school day is in school. If you are not in school then you must have a justifiable reason and your parents should ring the school on the first day of your absence. When you return to school you must bring a note from your parents or a sick-note from your doctor.

Parents are requested not to arrange family holidays during school time. However, where this is unavoidable requests for leave of absence should be made in writing well in advance of the date.

Illness, Accidents and Signing Out

Illness and accidents

If you feel unwell or have had an accident, you must tell the teacher immediately. Normally you will be sent to the school nurse, where she will take care of you. If you are too ill to remain in school or if hospital treatment is necessary then your parents will be contacted to make suitable arrangements.

Under no circumstances should you leave the school or go home without permission.

Medicines

If you need to take medicine at school you should bring a letter from your parents stating when you need to take it. Your medicine must be left with the school nurse. The only exception is if you have an inhaler for asthma.

Please do not ask for tablets at school; we are not allowed to give you any medicines.

Signing out

It is best to make medical appointments outside school hours. If you must leave school during the day for any reason then please bring a note from your parents in advance of the date.

School Canteen

Snacks are available at our school canteen.

Food

As per instructions from the Supreme Education Council, fizzy drinks, crisps and sweets are not permitted in school. Students may bring water, juice or milk to drink and sandwiches and fruit to eat. Sandwiches may be purchased from the canteen at break. Food should only be eaten in the canteen.

Chewing gum is strictly forbidden in school.

Please ensure you tidy your litter away in the bin provided after you.

Equipment

Every student is expected to provide the following basic items of equipment for every lesson:

  • 2 Pencils
  • Coloured pencils or fine fibre tips.
  • Pencil eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
  • 12"/ 30 cm ruler
  • Protractor

White out or liquid paper is NOT allowed in school and must not be used on any school work.

An overall or apron will be required for science and craft activities.

Valuables and Lost Property

Valuables

Students are not allowed to bring expensive items or large sums of money to school. Mobile phones, electronic games and personal entertainment equipment must never be brought to school under any circumstances. If caught in possession of any such item, it will be confiscated and given to the Head of Primary and kept until the students’ parent comes for it.

Lost Property

Lost property should be handed in to the school office without delay. If a student loses something, please enquire at the school office.
