Doha Academy Secondary aims to provide a standard of excellence in education that incorporates both academic and vocational subjects. Set within an English speaking environment students social, moral and spiritual wellbeing is a foundation that every Doha Academy students education is built upon. The Academy is fully committed to providing an education within an Islamic environment. Students are expected to follow the dress code, ethos and teachings of Islam.
Doha Academy Secondary consist of two segregated sections, one for boy’s and one for girl’s. The sections are set on one site in Al Waab but are taught in separate buildings. The buildings each consist of classrooms and administrative areas, in addition they also have Science laboratories, Art rooms, libraries, canteens and Physical Education facilities. Each section has a separate Head Teacher, associated senior management and staff to guide the students to achieve their full potential.
Academic achievement if a fundamental aspect of each student’s holistic development. The Academy follows a British Curriculum where English is the main language of instruction. However, Arabic, Qatar History and Religion are taught through the medium of English, support lessons are provided for those students whose first language is not Arabic.
The Academy is an Edexcel and Cambridge registered centre and the curriculum that students follow reflects the assessment and syllabus requirements, but also is designed to motivate, challenge, encourage and inspire them. Every student attends English, Mathematics, Science, Information Computer Technology (ICT), Geography. History, Art, PE, Arabic, Qatar History and Religion in Year Seven and Eight. At the end of Year Eight students have a range of compulsory and options subjects from which to choose from. They will study these subjects up until the end of Year 11 where they will sit their iGCSE’s. Following successful completion of these examinations, students will sit their AS subjects in Year Twelve.
The Academy promotes a focused, safe and stimulating environment. Student education is enriched with trips, activities and clubs that support and develop independent thought, learning and research. In addition to enrichment, student’s wider skills are broadened through their use and interaction with ICT. The Academy also endorses the development of professional working relationships across all stakeholders. Regular opportunities are provided for parents to communicate and be informed of their child’s progress, such as parent teacher meetings and open coffee mornings. In addition, the Academy’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a further avenue for parents to be involved in the education of their child and supporting the Academy’s mission, vision and objectives.
I am very proud to be the Head Teacher of Doha Academy Secondary Girls’. The Academy strives to provide an education to enable every young person to fulfill their potential. Students within the Academy are recognised, valued and encouraged to develop their individual skills and attributes to prepare them for later life.
The Academy has a strong tradition of incorporating academic and pastoral care set within an Islamic environment. We believe that the students should be supported in their holistic development and in conjunction through our guidance and care exemplify the teachings of Islam.
We have a talented, passionate and committed staff team of professionals who meet the needs of our students by preparing and delivering a stimulating and challenging curriculum. We also encourage and expect our students to enhance their independent learning, leadership and decision making skills both in academic lesson, extra-curricular activities and the wider life of the Academy.
